Preparing an Emergency Plan - Dartmouth 02747
8/26/2020 (Permalink)
When storms approach, it's helpful to be prepared in case it becomes too much to handle which is why we always recommend creating an emergency plan for your and family. At SERVPRO of Dartmouth / New Bedford, we not only specialize in water and fire damage cleanup and restoration but our crews also respond to damage caused by storms from hurricanes and tornadoes to rain and wind storms.
As much as we try to, we can never accurately predict how the elements will impact a certain area, especially during the volatile environments caused by storms.
This is why it’s important to have a concrete plan to follow during emergency situations. Here are some things to consider when preparing a plan for you and your family:
1. Create a Checklist
This can include a list of supplies to grab before leaving your homes such as your emergency kit, pets, and any additional medication or documents.
2. Discuss important decisions
Things like where to meet if your home or neighborhood is not safe, who to contact, and how you should respond to emergencies
3. Tailor your plan.
Each family has different needs and limitations, make sure yours works for everyone in your household.
4. Practice until perfect.
All plans are perfect in theory, but when you actually put the plan into action, you’ll find flaws. Make sure to role-play and make changes if needed.
5. Learn important phone numbers
This one is simple and straight-forward. Memorizing important numbers is key to ensuring you can contact the correct people.
We pride ourselves in being" Ready for whatever happens" and we want you and your family to be ready as well. As you are running from the storm, our techs are running to it to do what we do best: make it “Like it never even happened.”
